As I explained here: /vehicle_11560-Roman-F8-1969.html
'F8' is correct for the MAN version. So far I do not know if the Romanian version used 'F8', too. Until we have a confirmation or a correct name we will use it.

Actually it is very likely that this truck is an MAN and not a ROMAN. It is a German film and, I think, entirely made in Germany. On the other hand it should not be too difficult to get an old ROMAN truck in Germany.

Looking at the front wheel, isn't this truck rather small for a Saviem-cabbed MAN? I'd have thought a MAN this size would have the LT cab - or if later the Steyr, whereas the ROMAN ...

Still, Alexander, you know better than me

But the film also has several Dacias and two DAC trucks, which suggest that the scenes in Romania really were filmed there.

(It's also possible that some scenes set in the GDR were filmed in Romania, where it's probably easier to find suitably dilapidated and unmodernised buildings.)

Gag is right. Due to a lot of details, just at the few pic in this forum, you can see, that several scenes, mostly them on the countryside, were not filmed in Germany. Good example is the pic above. This kind of fence is unusal in Germany, also the white paint on the foot on the tree. Also the Dacia shown above is a late version from the 90ies (see the big back lamps). As I remember the GDR-times (I've been there a few times before 1990), in the GDR mostly you could see the earlier Dacias with the chrome-bumpers. DAC-trucks were unknown in the GDR, as I know.
I'm even not sure, if the Dacia was available in the GDR until "the end of time".

P.S. MAN- and Saviem-truck I only remember with the small window after the doors.

Not necessarily! :)

As Ingo points out this probably was filmed in Romania ... there is no location listing on IMDb and I didn't watch the film, which was aired last night.

So we better keep ROMAN. Still the question of the correct name has to be solved.

Yes! But only the original MAN F8 cab and models under patent, like first Roman R 10.215 / 19.215 F. This cab - without sides windows is from the latest models made in Brasov, Romania, for Roman / Dac models.

Ingo is right! Every detail in this pic is purely Romanian.

I got an information about Dacia in the DDR: only the 1300-engine was available there, only the basic trim lines and never the Break-version. Between 1985 and 1990 a few 1300 TX were sold, but not many. They didn't appear in the late 80ies-GENEX-catalogues any more either.
