jpts ◊ 2019-12-01 05:58	This scene was an reenactment of the murders of the chief of the Mumbai Police Anti-Terrorist Squad, Hemant Karkare, Mumbai Police Inspector, Vijay Salaskar and the Mumbai Police Deputy Inspector General, Ashok Kamte who were shot along with 4 constables by the terrorists, Ismail Khan and Ajmal Kasab as they were responding to a distressed officer near the Cama & Albless Hospital on the night of the 26th November 2008. According to the surviving police officer, Arun Jadhav, Jadhav stated that he along with Karkare, Salaskar and Kamte received an report from Indian Police Inspector, Sadanand Date that Date had been wounded at the Cama & Albless Hospital and requested for assistance, so Karkare, Salaskar, Kamte and Jadhav along with three other constables got in the Toyota Qualis Police 4WD and drove off to respond to Date's emergency, Jadhav also stated that five minutes after leaving the police station, Kasab and Khan appeared from behind a tree and opened fire on the Qualis, killing Karkare, Salaskar, Kamte and three officers and wounding Jadhav. After killing Karkare, Salaskar, Kamte and the three officers, Jadhav stated that Khan and Kasab dragged the officers' bodies out of the Qualis and took off with the vehicle. Khan and Kasab drove to the Metro Cinema where they opened fire on the police and the press vehicles before taking off towards the government offices in South Mumbai where they opened fire again on the police, in an attempt to leave the area, one of the Qualis' tyres burst, forcing Khan and Kasab to abandon the Qualis and stealing another car and taking off where they ran into a police roadblock and opened fire on more police officers. In a volley of gunfire, Khan was shot and killed while Kasab shot and killed police officer, Tukaram Omble before being shot and wounded in a struggle with other police officers. As the only surviving terrorist, Kasab was put on trial for his involvement in the attacks on the 25th February 2009 for murder, conspiracy, waging war against India, and possession of explosives. He was later convicted of all charges on the 6th May 2010 and was sentenced to death. While in prison at the Arthur Road Jail, on the 9th August 2012, Kasab was brought face to face with Indian Lashkar-e-Taiba member, Sayed Zabiuddin Ansar whose role in the Mumbai Attacks was the local handler for the ten terrorists involved in the attacks. Ansar was also their tutor who taught the terrorists how to speak in the local Hindi dialect for Mumbai and to use certain phases common in the Hindi dialect.
