Goof - set in Washington, so this should normally have a DC plate instead of a Virginia one. |

@Gamer - Why would you consider that a goof. Virginia is right across the river, Very common to see vehicles with Maryland and Virginia plates in DC everyday. The person may reside in Virginia, but work in DC. Not a goof at all. |

The plate looks to be a valid one but I can't fully read the numbers. ICA-9977? Doesn't come up as valid though. |

The plate probably isn't in use anymore. I don't think Virginia has anything that shows history like the California BAR website, and if the plate hasn't been recently renewed it won't show up on Carfax or AutoCheck. |

Likely. From what I know they don't (but they should, it would make identifying these cars a lot more easier). |

Nothing on autocheck or Carfax for 1CA-9977. Probably crushed or sold to anther owner. If my '93 showed up in a film it wouldn't run the plate either. PA changed the style in the early 2000s which means all the old plates had to be turned back in to the Dept. of Transportation. I am not sure if VA changed their plates. |

The point here is that the plate, whether valid or not, would not be seen in DC. And that is not a correct statement. Refer to my previous comment. |

Could even be with the original owner and just moved to another state, doubtful, but still a possibility. |
