Probably a Sunbeam Super Imp for export. |

In 1965 in France the Imp was sold as Hillman, in 1970 as Sunbeam... I have no info about 1966, though. Edit: I found it lested in a copy of l'Automobile from 1967 as Sunbeam. -- Last edit: 2010-09-29 14:34:00 |

I think 1966 was the year when export Rootes became Sunbeams - this car could be pre- or post-changeover. As a 1968 film I went for the latter; I also looked long and hard whether this might be a blurred Chamois instead, but just convinced myself on Super Imp. |

Update - this is a Chamois - does not have black plaque on rear pillar and it looks as if has thin chrome trim around rear panel indent, faintly visible here on the top length. Also I'm now fairly sure Super Imps always (or almost always) had black fill in side trim. Chamois had various fills depending on main colour. Imp Sports always (or almost always) had red, bit this is not an Imp sport - does not have "sunshine" pattern hubcaps or slatted rear panel. Can also confirm now that Sunbeam export name changeover was mid-1966 (about July). |
