Wow, would never have guessed that in a million years! Wondering how it ended up in Hollywood?

No it isn’t, it’s just a plain old TC21, from a closer look at the thumbs there are no extra air scoops on the top of the bonnet.

Looks like they are there in the main pic and 3rd thumbnail?

I thought they were missing in the third thumb, which is what caused my change of mind. However, it has wire wheels so perhaps my original assessment was better than my eyesight.

Mulliner made the saloons, Tickford the Drophead.

More info, and another case of elusive bonnet vents here....

Well I had found this one, that was in LA and matches the color scheme, but it doesn't have the bubbles:

Unfortunately I missed the first 10 minutes or so of the episode when I DVR'd it. I saw the car and wanted to know what it was, then hit record.

It's not a show that I've ever watched, but it does have interesting late 1950's cars, usually Fords.

It also lacks centre-lock wheels, so presents some problem, as changing from bolted to centre-lock wheels is no simple matter.

BTW, I watched the show first time round, on a 17 inch monochrome tv, but I have now no need for Cookie’s comb, or any other comb!

I didn't think it was this car, I just noticed the hood scoops on this one in comparison. I was looking at the Alvis Club page and there was an e-mail for their North Ameican Alvis expert, I'm tempted to e-mail him and ask if he knows about this one.

It is listed as available in US in That Book, and the mantra was "Export or Die".

I did see that on the other page after I made that comment, and on the Alvis Archive website. Still shocking to see one stateside, especially if they only made 48 of them total.

As Zimbalist was sitting in the car, another character was talking to him and said "nice car", to which Zimbalist replied that he was renting while in Italy.

A couple of sites say 100 Tickford TC DHCs were made - example, but unclear if this included ordinary TC and TC-100 as twin versions or whether all DHCs were TC-100.

In case you wondered why it was always Zimbalist Junior, here is Senior for your delight and delectation. Both men appear to have reached the fine old age of 95, so the genes were good, but it seems Junior got the looks from his mother.

A total of 576 TC21/100 cars was built, but my book (Alvis The Story of the Red Triangle by Kenneth Day, 1997 edition) does not differentiate between body types. There were, at that time, 125 known survivors.

TA21 1319/199
TC21 150/23

The TB21 was a completely different style of car.

For TC 21-100 Tickford DHCs in US, my link above has a submitted comment at the end - "February 4, 2019 - Gary Lindstrom says: I recently purchased what appears to be an original US sales brochure for 1954 Alvis Three Litre Tickford bodied cars, with illustrations of what I take to be TC21/100 Grey Lady drophead coupes. I am amazed to see east and west coast distributors listed – Fergus Moors Inc. in New York City and Cavalier Motor Cars Limited in Los Angeles. I didn’t think these cars were imported into the US – can anyone clarify?" which has not been directly answered.

My Alvis book - Alvis: the Post-war cars (John Price Williams) - says across different pages that 725 TC chassis built, 280 being plain TC21, 400 (approx) Grey Ladies (including 101 Tickford DHCs and 26 or 30 Grabers). It also says that records are confused - not all the recorded blocks of chassis numbers were fully used, so theoretical numbers are higher than actual production.
