A Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith I believe. |

Silver Wraith with Hooper Empress Body. |

Think of something else: all Hooper Silver Wraith saloons and limousines had windscreens with 4 round corners. My first hunch would be H.J.Mulliner, either design 7276 or 7356. I'll try to research it more thoroughly. -- Last edit: 2007-04-19 16:34:43 |

SIlver Wraith 1947. The current body is by Swiss coachbuilder Beutler. The current owner is the Palace Hotel in Gstaad, Switzerland. |

It looks identical to #LALW16, a 1952 H.J.Mulliner limousine but it's possibly another one. The 1975 & 2004 photos show small blinkers below the horn grilles but the 2000 photos when with the Real Car Company show no blinkers!! Moreover LALW16 was in the US in 1975 but I can't find another design 7276 which fits in. -- Last edit: 2011-10-07 17:56:11 |

This Silver Wraith, Swiss-registered "BE 22207", was delivered new in Egypt according to this link : Link to "www.royalautomobileclub.co.uk" In 2015, I have had the opportunity to see this car and it was said to be LALW18 (you can zoom in on the piece of paper) : https://www.flickr.com/photos/tautaudu02/42041246055/ |

Il s'agit bien sûr de la voiture carrossée par Beutler et en service au Palace Hôtel de Gstaad. Voir aussi ici: /v268450.html |

Any evidence?? If so, that's new information. |

Well... it looks nothing like Gebr. Beutler Carrosserie! Ok, just like the Phantom II, but that's a commercial rebody and thus far off their usual work. I strongly suppose that one is the origin of an urban legend about the Beutler Rolls-Royce belonging to a hotel in Switzerland - because it was built for a hotel in Switzerland. So: Yes, such a car was (re)bodied and no, it's not the one above. The Palace people don't mention a coachbuilder, but proudly talk about the Silver Wraith on their website. |

#LALW18, 1952 Silver Wraith LWB limousine by H.J.Mulliner. No Beutler influence here. Awful paint job. -- Last edit: 2021-05-12 20:36:03 |

So LALW16 or LALW18?? If this is 16, is there any info out there what 18 was?? |

Almost yes, the limousines to H J Mulliner design #7276, a total of 46 being sold between January 1952 and April 1954, seem to have chassis numbers starting at ALW1, but the end # is given as BLW41. There were also LALW22, LALW34 and ALW44, but LALW27 was a single example of design #7310. -- Last edit: 2021-04-28 08:48:38 |
