Looks like the Morris version's grille. |

If plate is original, it’s a 1963 Morris 1100 MkI. |

You can almost hear the tinworms discussing whether to attack this or the Vauxhall. Both cars were around 8-10 years old at the time of filming, and could therefore be considered as survivors, their owners approaching the next MoT test with fear and trepidation. The 1100 would have rot down the roots of the front wings, just in front of the door shut line, and major difficulties with its rear subframe mountings, and the Vauxhall would not be safe to go under using the jacking points. The 1600cc version of that engine as in this car suffered from bottom end weakness whereas the earlier 1500 engines were fairly robust. Even at £130 the Morris was no bargain, the engine was ok, but the drive shaft outer joints suffered badly, and the hydrolastic suspension was a barrel of laughs. Was there, did that. -- Last edit: 2019-05-28 23:33:03 |
