xOO plate suggests factory registered - the xOO 123 combinations ran unusually late until Oct 62, when most other combinations had switched much earlier to 123 ABC, so this could well be new for filming. |

Like Staffordshire, Essex ran out of its original series allocations in late 61. Essex received some extra indices, OO and WC which had not previously been used. Staffs received BF, with which the residents of Dorset had objected to being saddled in 1904 and had replaced by FX. Since both these issues were late in commencement, the apparently out of step use is explained. Both allocations were exhausted and the new (then) suffix marks had to be introduced, Staffs in July 63 and Essex in Nov 63. |
