We've identified this vehicle using the details you provided BEDFORD NOT RECORDED 1963 Registration number: MFF 389 Body type: Light Van Colour: Blue Date of first registration: June 1963 Looks long door so CAL. |

Something weird here at a glance it didn't look right and June 1963 MK II should be right. CAL yes for the reason above but it has... 1. The larger June 1964 Mark III windscreen 2. The B E D F O R D letters are the wrong font, not as tall than they should be. 3. The bumper is lower than it should be. 4. The air-intake louvers under the windscreen look to be a separate panel, not part of the windscreen surround pressing, 5. A minor point, the door mirrors are non standard. Is it supposed to be UK location as the scenery, trees, or bushes could be in a hotter climate? Cannot be certain about any of this as I'm still a bit wobbly I'm afraid and just back at home after 9 days in a hospital A&E ward with no internet access. Don't know, or particularly care, what ambulance I travelled in, but it was not a Bedford CAL. My last visit to A&E (a local small children's hospital) was so long ago it was a Bedford A-type and I was under 6 years old. -- Last edit: 2023-01-09 22:17:31 |

I wondered about the windscreen - it makes it look weird. And it doesn't look like what's probably the real MFF 389 which is a film rental. So I guess the idea of a Johnny Foreigner example is on the right lines with ZA listed as the alternative location, and potentially a local build with local quirks. |

If the 1963 number plate is a proven substitution then its a MkIII and at least a year older. The front with a MkII grille is dodgy and someone has intentionally modified the MkIII air inlet panel under the windscreen to make it look like it has louvres. 1964-1970 MkIII with MkII grill. -- Last edit: 2023-01-10 11:09:08 |

Another detail I think that proves a MkIII front valance on this van. The MkII still had a single (or twin) starting handle holes above the bumper. The MkIII I think eliminated the use of starting handles. Also the bright trim around the MKII lower grille-slot is continuous, in the real thing it has gaps at the lower ends. |

A lot of those “FF” series were issued as “cherished” number replacements so may not be a strict match to the age of the vehicle. I hope you are soon fully recovered. |

^ Thanks, JFS feeling a lot better. However the little gray cells have taken a bit of a bashing, due to being inactive for too long, so forgive me if I go a bit haywire. I cannot thank the people in the NHS enough. Two lots of scans late at night, a visit to the operating theatre (however no knives involved thank goodness just endoscope inspection). I was told I was nearly admitted to the intensive care unit but A&E managed to pump some blood into me. I have to go back for check-ups but I'm told everything should be OK. |

^ You and me both. The endoscopy is not so bad, it’s the necessary laxative before it! |

Sending my best wishes for a speedy recovery @Sunbar! |

Thank you AnimatronixX, I'm feeling fairly good. Currently on a bit of a high (without drinking!). Which is why I'm trying to spend a little time on here. However there seems to be a lot to do at home and I cannot relax until things are at least partially sorted. jfs, I did have some "pre-conditioning" an hour before an earlier scan, with little effect, but they said it was unnecessary before the rather painful endo-whatsit. |

Oh dear, mine, (both ends), have been relatively painless. Merioneth County Council had only reached HFF by 4/63 and commenced suffix marks 2/1/64. Les Newall on “FF”: - KFF -YFF inclusive were allocated 10/93 to 12/94 by the DVLA to various VROs for “age related” marks. |

Rear view (no tactless pun intended) looks English and confusing colour in relation to the proven dark blue film rental. So some witchcraft likely, but which spell was used is unclear. |

I would say they could be two different vans. The main picture shows no end for the rear bumper, the one in the thumbnail has a full rear bumper with wrap-around. Rear end/back passage jokes are all accepted here. Santa Clause had to visit his doctor complaining of constipation. The doctor said, OK pull your trousers down and bend over. After a good look he said I can see your problem. You have a mince pie stuck up there. But don't worry I've got some cream for that... Mine must have been an individual Christmas pudding complete with the holly. -- Last edit: 2023-01-10 17:27:07 |

No, I missed that one. I'm not too far away from Chalfont St Giles. I "Regularly Passed It" on the way to Heathrow, years ago. |
