Apparently, extra shots were needed to be filmed in the UK, and somebody was tasked to import one over. -- Last edit: 2021-05-23 19:29:49 |

I can fill in a few gaps about the background and history of this car. It's a Japanese market 2004 Crown Sedan (not Crown Comfort) Super Deluxe Mild Hybrid [GBS12], originally silver in colour, that was imported to the UK in 2018 and converted into a HK taxi replica for filming. It has since been in the hands of two private owners, one of whom is in a Facebook group I help run for overseas Comfort/Crown Comfort/Crown Sedan owners. The current owner says it will appear in a future episode of The Crown. It has the UK registration LE53 KOV and here is the information from DVLA Vehicle make: TOYOTA Date of first registration: February 2004 Date of first registration with DVLA: October 2018 Year of manufacture: 2004 Cylinder capacity: 2000 cc CO2 emissions: 0 g/km Fuel type: PETROL Euro status: Not available Real Driving Emissions (RDE): Not available Export marker: No Vehicle status: Taxed Vehicle colour: SILVER Vehicle type approval: Not available Wheelplan: 2 AXLE RIGID BODY Revenue weight: Not available Date of last V5C (logbook) issued: 16 September 2021 -- Last edit: 2022-04-04 22:48:12 |

These rear lights were introduced in 2001 for the upscale Crown Sedan in Japan. This is, in fact, a JDM 2004 Crown Sedan (see my other comment). Hong Kong-market Crown Comforts later adopted them ca. 2007. -- Last edit: 2022-04-04 22:42:16 |
