Probably 280SE Cabriolet. Are these also labelled as W111? -- Last edit: 2018-10-31 21:25:48 |

It doesn't look like a genuine convertible. Based on the windshield header it may have started out as a coupe and then converted for a drop-top. |

Might be a leftover Hangover car? |

@cl82: Yes they were. All 220 SE, 250 SE, 280 SE and 280 SE 3.5 were of the [W 111] family (Coupés and Convertibles) (together with some fintails (Heckflosse) versions (220 b, 220 Sb, 220 SEb and 230 S). Because the aluminium engine used in the 300 versions were that much more expensive to make, Mercedes decided to make it even more exclusive with adding the (Borgward) air suspension and a slightly more upmarket interior with rarer wood. Hence it got another designation and was called [W 112] (Coupés and Convertibles) (together with the 300-series of the fintail versions (300 SE and 300 SEL)). The 280 SE pictured, was made in 1.390 examples (hand made) mainly during the years 1968-70, and is worth a lot of money. |

Possibly because it appears in a film. They tend to remove them to make a better picture (show the actors) when shooting from the front. Also the rear view mirror is being removed. -- Last edit: 2018-10-31 21:54:53 |

Please explain. I cannot see anything strange. |

As can be seen in slight detail in the attachment, the top of the windshield header is different from the car pictured above. In addition, the convertible stack in the attached picture is significantly larger than the one pictured above. I tend to agree with night cub. It reminds me of the Mercedes used in the Hangover. That too was a coupe that was converted into a convertible. Link to "cdn.motor1.com" |

Can we define this as a custom-made vehicle? |
