Part of the movie and part of a conversation between Robert Donat and John Laurie.
A small delivery van similar to an 1928 Austin 7 Van with an early painted radiator but with a slightly longer wheelbase. An Austin Ten 6/8cwt van was around in about 1930-1933 but no examples found.

Longbridge only started A7 van production in 1930; earlier vans were approved coachbuilds by Thomas Startin and a few by Gordon England, so there may have been some odd varieties. I think all the Longbridge-built A7 vans had C-shape curve for side window, so this ain't one of them. No idea about the Ten Van, although this one seems to have rear mudguards as if it's a wider track than the narrow A7.

CM lists three Austin vans in 1925, Seven, Twelve and Twenty all with Startin bodies. If it is an Austin, and so larger than a Seven, its likely as you say dsl to be based on a bare chassis with a body made elsewhere.

In 1931 an Austin 12/6 10cwt Van was introduced which looks larger than the movie van.
The 1934 Austin 10 6/8cwt van CM article implies it had a predecessor Austin 10 van but no details.

One to look out for in the future, if it can be found.
