By what is visible, it is very likely it's based on a 1968+ Mercedes-Benz 280 S or SE [W 108]. That is because of the one piece hub caps (introduced in January 1968) and the doors with aluminium only around the side windows, rather than the whole upper parts if being a 300 SEL [W 109]. /8 [W 114] and [W 115] looked very much different. The coach builder is probably American Motor Industries in Port Melbourne https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Motor_Industries which imported and assemblied Australian Mercedes-Benz for a while. While searching on the net, https://www.hotfrog.com.au/business/nsw/wahroonga/hamilton-funerals_2440172 and http://www.hamiltonfunerals.com.au/services/mourning-cars-and-hearses popped up. Apparently it's a 1968+ (havent found the exact year yet as they have more than one) Mercedes-Benz 280 SE [W 108], possibly coach built by AMI. |

The coachbuilder looks to be W.D. Hadley of Smithfield, NSW. |
