Pre-A 356 - 53-55 |

Actually, this car puzzled me. The windshield seems to have a pointed windshield, but no centre post (April, 1950-April, 1952) so it would have to be a bent windshield ('Knickersheibe', April 1952-1955) The front indicators/sidelights are the 1954-1959 type (1958-59 if mounted on abase), the front handle (with a crest) is of the A-type, found on 1955 pre-A. So far it fits a 1955 pre-A. Then there was one mismatch. A major one. So maybe the windshield is actually curved, but the distance makes it look older. The one thing that doesn't add up is the shape of the sills, or rocker panels. Pre-A's were curved, these are straight (with this angle, best viewed at the rear wheel). So on second thought I'd say this is a 1956-59 356 A, with or without the 1958-59 T2 body that is best id'd from the rear. For the lack of towel rails (US location, 1957+), stick to 1956. |
