It is a Silver Shadow I (1965-76)

If it is a "I" it is usually labelled without the "I" I guess... (like the others that we have on the site)

The Roman 1 is actually used to distinguish between the models from 1965-76 and the second series from 1977-81. The latter ones had black rubber coated bumpers.

See:

They should know ;)

The second one has a "II" :D
Well, it's like for the VW Bus, the Golf and lots of others: shall we use the "I"/"1" or not, since it was not labelled with a "1" before the second one was released

Well, it's a Rolls-Royce, you can't take ordinary numbers! It has to be engraved and gold plated! :D

As always this numbering only turns up once there is a second series, and very often it was not used at the time the cars were sold. This kind of labeling is more important for car historians and enthusiasts like us.

I would go along wit the RREC and call it Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I.

OK ;)
I guess that I should rename the other RR Silver Shadow in the same way?

Yes, please!

The Silver Shadow II are easy to spot by their black bumpers.
The year would accordingly be 1977.

Actually, it is common to name pre-Shadow-II models as Shadow I, so Silver Shadow I ist definitely accepted as correct within the Rolls-Royce world.

Black polyurethan bumpers where available up from 1972 as safitity requirements in the USA made it necessary to deliver even Shadow I's to the US and some other markets with black bumpers. If you wish to know whether a car is a Shadow I or II you have to check the dashboard, to check whether the car does have a frontspoiler (only Shadow II except US-spec cars) and to check whether the car has square mirrors on the doors (Shadow II) or round mirrors (only Shadow I). A placque displaying the type (Silver Shadow II) was only available for and fixed on the bootlid of the Shadow II

1974+ due to head restraints, no air vents bellow headlights, fog lights ON bumper (not under) and 4/1974+ flared wheelarches.
