Should make be Fordson or Muir-Hill?? I haven't found a match in our collection to use as a guide. |

See this list of Muir-Hill models. I'd guess ours is somewhere 1960s-70s, and there's a couple of pictures there of a Muir-Hill A5000 which seems somewhere in the right direction, but more macho than ours which has small front wheels (so 2wd??). |

see plate in zoom mode Link to "www.ebay.co.uk" seems they may not actually had model numbers ? says "if you order spare package please quote serial " -- Last edit: 2018-06-25 22:55:48 |

Registration is 924 KOD = Devon, March-April 1962. What I think I can read of the maker plate says "Muir Hill. Manufactured by E. Boydell & Co. Ltd, El(xxxx) Road, Old Trafford, Manchester 16. When ordering spares, please quote serial no. RO2-4103" Which seems similar to the wikia listing of a "MH RD2 2wd Rear wheel drive front steering. 6090kg 0.57m3 bucket 1964", although the plate looks a fairly distinct RO2 instead of RD2. -- Last edit: 2018-07-26 00:24:17 |

Not familiar with the RD2 but maybe this was a subsequent model to the 2WL , 2WL a very popular and long lived loader in real life and Dinky toy form ! Very strong and based on rock solid reliable Fordson Major skid unit, probably still some at work now in coal yards. -- Last edit: 2018-07-04 16:58:59 |

Found my Muir-Hill book and this is indeed a RD2 , a short lived succesor to the 2WL. -- Last edit: 2018-07-25 23:18:28 |

"1954 E. Boydell introduced his first 1 3/8cu.yd capacity hydraulic Loading Shovel, the 2WL." from here, which matches the maker plate seen on mike962's ebay example Also found this reference: "Catalogue description: Leaflets advertising the Muir Hill 2WL loaders, RD2, BD8, A3000, A4000, A5000, A6000, B4000, B5000, B12000, F4000 and F5000 loading shovels; Muir Hill Ltd, Gloucester, England and E Boydell & Co. Ltd, Old Trafford Manchester" (but it's an online dead end). And there's a Dinky model of a Muir-Hill 2WL Loader, #437, produced from 1962 in various colours/liveries until apparently 1979 (when Dinky went bust). |
