produced by GM Chrysler USA for the UPS postal delivery service..when this service came to the UK in the early 2000s, these vans were used in Britain..until it was found that they were too unweildy for rural British roads, so were replaced by more common Mercedes and similar vans.

In the UK, UPS used to have Volkswagen Transporters with custom bodywork made to look like these Grumman-Olsens. The steering wheel still had a Volkswagen badge, though. As far as I can remember, there were two versions, one with a recognisible Volkswagen front below the windscreen and one with a completely restyled front.

Now they use Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis-cabs with "UPS van" bodies. The metal Mercedes badge is removed from the front grille, but that just reveals the badge shape moulded into the grille. :)

P.S. I happened to see a UPS Sprinter this morning. It had an internal door between the cab and the body, and an aerodynamic fairing on top of the cab because the body is much taller.

And in Belgium, a decade ago, these vans used Citroën chassis. I remember the Citroën badge was visible on the steering wheel.

The "Made for UPS"-Mercedes Sprinter are quite new. In the past the German UPS-transporters are based on the Mercedes T2-chassis.
