'78-82 Datsun Sunny or another name. |

Agree with Datsun and period - model could be a real challenge |

Well, the body shell looks like end 70´s Mazda ( 626 / 929 ) or Toyota ( Carina / Corona ) too. |

Could indeed be a Toyota Carina/Corona. |

It' looks like a Datsun 140Y (310), however the door frame's width isn't clear (the Datsun's are thicker) and same goes for the A pillar. They're painted black, but also there's no nickel trim (there was quite a bit around the windshield) and no plastic trim on the side of the car running with the line. Close but not certain, as the Corona T130 is very similar from that angle (can't comment on the Mazda though). |

Seen the Mazda now, definetely not a 626. The front wheel arch stops the line which is a lot lower than this one. |

My initial thoughts were that it is a Datsun "J"-series (1978-1983), also sold as the Stanza in ZA and Oz. The seats, steering, grilles ahead of windscreen and bonnet looks right for that. The C-pillar, dash and rearview mirrors, however, could be wrong? Compare: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2068366 and http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/A_1171/article.html |

Yes 120Y is also my guess it's not definitely a "J" neither a Toyota.. |

Nissan/Datsun distribution in India seems to have been handled throughout this era by a division branded: Nissan Motor India Private Limited. that would make this a: 1978-82 Nissan Sunny [B310] |

But this is in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The IMDB doesn't have a locations list, but a user review states "all the action happens in Dubai". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0833484/usercomments The Pulsar in the film has a Dubai number plate: /vehicle_113921-Nissan-Pulsar-B14-1996.html |

ah... thanks for pointing that out - i only saw the "Additional Details - Country: India". i'm no expert on Dubai by any stretch, but a quick google search just now showed the use of the "Nissan" name throughout this time period, and also specifically the use of the "Sunny" model name for decades... still seems to very likely be correct as listed. |

1980-82 by the taillights. |

galloper's third thumbnail shows an obviously fake number plate. Because of that and the age of the car, I suspect that the scenes with this car were not filmed in Dubai. |
