The basis was Volvo(see diagonal bar on grille,of simplified style adopted since 1984 on their trucks),maybe a locally-bodied-in-Singapore B 10 M chassis |

These are Volvo B10M MKIII buses with Duple-Metsec bodies used by SBS Transit of Singapore, brought in from the end of 1992 to 1993. These buses are now nearing the end of their statutory lifespan (all public buses in Singapore must be taken off the roads (usually scrapped, but sometimes exported overseas) after 17 years, with a further extension of 1 or 2 years permitted for a total of either 18 or 19 years), and will all be gone by 2012. This particular one, SBS 702J, has now been relegated as a spare bus for breakdown or extra deployments, its main role having been taken over by newer, wheelchair-accessible buses, and will be taken off the road no later than 23rd December 2011 (according to information posted on SGWiki.com). The yellow-and-orange side paneling is probably a leftover from a full-body advertisement. -- Last edit: 2011-05-17 19:23:38 |
