Interesting about the Indian assembly of British Dodge trucks... https://www.allpar.com/world/india.html It appears they built them as Dodge, Fargo or DeSoto depending on the dealer outlets they were sold through in India. However they were built probably in very low volumes because of the local demand, and primarily for local sales? |

Indian situation seems similar to Turkey - /vehicle.php?id=1013086 . Also interesting that some Rootes-Chrysler US linkages seem to have started a lot earlier than the 1966 UK buy-out - I was not aware of this courtship phase. If Rootes and Chrysler US first started collaborating in 1962 as some of these links suggest, it's the same year Chrysler bought Simca as if there was a masterplan for Europe, not just opportunistic shopping. |
