This one should definitely have 4 stars. |

They actually used a 1975-76 Bonneville or 1975 Grand Ville as a stand-in for this car most of the times that it got wrecked, such as when the Snowman ran into it, when it fell off the drawbridge, or when the football player flipped it over. Anybody got any pics of that one? |

Why they've destroyed a 1980 Bonneville in a '80 movie! They did the same thing in the previous Smokey and the Bandit with a '77 LeMans! And how this Bonneville ended like this?! |

Look closely, the "destroyed" car is actually a 1972 fullsize Pontiac. |

they actually destroyed a few 1972ish pontiacs in this movie, i can think of 2 others 1 was the one that fell off of the drawbridge the other was when the car is flipped over at the football stadium |

I don't think it's a Bonneville. The Bonnevilles from the late 70's and early 80's haven't these door handles, and I think it's a Parisienne. |

at the time of the film, a Parisienne would have a Caprice body |

the Parisienne didn't come out until 1983. the 80-81 bonneville was full size like the one shown at the top and became the midsized car for 1982 (there was no 1982 full size pontiac) and then the Parisienne came back for 1983 so this is a 1980 bonneville. |

Here is the stunt model: http://www.flickr.com/photos/filminglocationsdetectives/4693210194/ . And you`re all right, it`s NOT the same Bonneville! |

It was such a nice car and it's a shame that they destroyed it. |

For the stunt car in the middle of the movie, see /vehicle.php?id=672694#Comment1526931 Images arranged according to appearance in the movie. You can clearly tell that some scenes later in the movie where actually shot earlier and vise versa due to damage of car. A good example is the chase at the funfair, where the frame is already bended when entering the setting. By watching at the different state of damage during the movie, it seems the used 2 or 3 Bonnevilles. -- Last edit: 2014-02-04 23:08:42 |
