not 1974, it an original colour of a late Mexico-Käfer.

^^ @ingo; should I perhaps have added “Yes a 1200 but what year?” as info? It has a newer look indeed. Can you see what bumper is used, usually you have an opinion ? Stainless or painted ?

Stainless bumper? AFAIK the first MY of the Passat I was the only VW ever with stainless bumpers - and all others were chromated iron.

And was there ever a Käfer except the basic 1200 before 1975 or Bundespost- or Bundeswehr-Käfer with painted bumpers? I think, all Mexico-Käfer from 1978 to 1985 had chromated bumpers.

OK, wrong choise af material. Chromed would be a better description. Since the bumper is not painted then, it would rather be a 1200L

Having gained a larger rear window, and with 1985 (MY1986) also as the last year for export to Europe, being dressed in what could match the LA7Y Zinngrau Metallic this is probably the MY1986 1200L Jubilee

Could you consider this a match then, @ingo?

(For the record, German brochures show black painted bumpers on basic versions (1976/1977 brochures) after 1975. The Mexican exports were AFAIK all 1200L so with chrome bumpers, yes.)

Thanks, @5503
