1997 only GL. For this year, the North-American specific hubcaps were discontinued: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/96_fullline/scan0007.jpg and replaced with these wheels, which in Europe we already had on Ventos and special editions: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/97_fullline/scan0007.jpg What's the difference you may ask? Well, notice how the previously rather rough and jagged edges have been rounded off. Easiest way to recognize the redesigned wheels is by the recess with the "button" in the center.
