JBT 175 = East Riding of Yorkshire, May-November 1950. £445 in 1967 seems to be equivalent of £7832 today (inflation rate of 1607.3%). |

Being 1950 it has to be a Mk VI. |

Were I near my books..... NZ is right, it’s a Mk VI Standard Steel Saloon. The price is about right for the model and date of the film, my car was bought a few years earlier and being the newer R-type was worth a bit more. The amount paid was £925, and a 1953 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire 346 was traded in against the Bentley, but I don’t know what allowance was made. For a seventeen year old car the subject Bentley looks in good order, with no rust showing in the normally expected spots. The front tyres look a bit worn, though. At the time of the film, these cars had just about reached rock bottom prices, before starting a lengthy upward crawl to today’s higher numeric values. The inflation adjusted figure of £7832 would now buy you a Mk VI, but only in quite poor condition and probably not drivable without work. -- Last edit: 2017-12-31 22:25:13 |

1950 Bentley Mark VI Standard Saloon, Chassis B139 GT, originally supplied in Black to dealer Robert Massey, sold to Thornton Valley Ltd., and missing in action, so either scrapped or sold on abroad. |
