Agreed |

I also agree,but being in Italy,could be even an Alfa Romeo Dauphine,1959 to 1965 license-made |

I had no idea that Alfa built the Dauphine too. Cool fact. |

though made in Alfa plants, I've never heard of Alfa Romeo Dauphine!! , weren't they badged and commercialized as RENAULT |

They were indeed commercialized as Alfa Romeo Dauphine. They shared the same oily bits but some optional extras were Italian, I expect to justify it as an Alfa Romeo they had to put some locally produced stuff on it (like Citroëns that were built in Britain). According to the magazine Rétroviseur (nr.66, Février 1994) the Dauphine was also made by Kaiser in Argentina (untill 1970!), by Willys in Brasil, by FASA in Spain and the forementioned Alfa Romeo in Italy. I can't find the matching years though, but I'm sure DynaMike will know. I also believe they were transformed into electric-engined cars in America, but I'm not sure. I believe nowadays in Canada there still is a company that restores Dauphines and equipes them with electric motors, environment-friendly retro design for the yuppies... the world has gone crazy! -- Last edit: 2007-06-03 23:49:30 |

Hmmm... it says 'forbidden, you dont have acces blablabla...' is it the correct address? |

Those Canadiens with their electric Dauphines are called 'Feel Good Cars'... |

I'd made some mistake in copying the link, but now it should work... |

Indeed! Thanks, I also see now they were called 'Dauphine Alfa Romeo'. For me, I can't say if it's an Alfa or a Renault, maybe someone can tell by looking at the colour but not me I'm afraid... |

thank's for this interesting site. Now let's reason a little bit. 1- action seems to be in Italy. 2- with these rims, it's a 1958+ model.minimum 3- it seems there is the specific "export" version of number-plate light, then it can't be french car Then, it's either a 1958 Renault Dauphine (Export) or 1959+ Renault Dauphine Alfa-Romeo (or Alfa Romeo Dauphine, I don't know what's the most convenient) considering that Renault/Alfa-Romeo contract certainly engaged an exclusivity to Alfa Romeo for sale of the car on italian market till 1959 , therefore it couldnt be a 1959 Dauphine Export At least, the film being in 1965, there is a very strong probability to have an Alfa made Dauphine. |

Remains the problem of the white license plate... The high placed number-plate light was also used on Reanults Dauphine in almost all export markets, and, as far as I know, also in Switzerland and Germany. |
