See 5th post on Link to "www.rover800.info" - 800s were assembled by Honda in Japan for J and Aus markets. Another at /vehicle.php?id=314261 . Would be very interested if anyone can come up with further info on this J assembly - very few references anywhere.

Now have some info on J assembly 800s - Jan 87 to Dec 88 at the Sayama factory - almost identical to UK except did not have Bosch ABS, wheels were spoked steel from Legend, and radiators were vertical-flow instead of cross-flow. No production figure found. All J-spec 800s after Dec 88 were UK build and luxury versions, sometimes better equipped than UK trims.

The parallel UK build of Legends stopped in Nov 88, when Honda claimed assembly standards were not good enough. UK Legends had 800's bigger brakes, cross-flow radiators, and smaller but apparently more sophisticated batteries. Figures were 1986 - 472, 1987 - 2677, 1988 - 1260 = 4409 total.
