It's a 1972 Chevelle SS. The '71 model has split turn-signals while the '72 model has unbroken turn-signals. The '71 model also has a grille split horizontally through the middle somewhat similar to the 1970 model, while the '72 grille lacks this split. What it says is "Cowl Induction", and it's from the factory. I was trying to find a close-up picture from my pics, but the closest I could find were full car shots, where you can see the lettering.
