OLG 493 (or 483??) is very close to OLG 490, the prototype Bentley R Type Continental unveiled on 20 August 1951 and nicknamed 'Olga'. |

So that, no doubt it is a Bentley Mark VI, 1951. |

Late Mk VIs were fitted with the 4566cc engine, and are referred to as "big bore full flow". The engine then continued in the R-type, stretching yet further to 4887cc for the R Conti and the S1 Saloons and Contis. Full flow refers to the oil filtration system, earlier 4257cc Mk VIs had only bypass oil filters, the full flow engine filters all its oil all the time, in theory. Most cars have by now been retrofitted with more modern systems frequently using Land Rover components. -- Last edit: 2017-09-17 11:02:55 |

#B124TN 1953 Bentley R=type Standard Saloon for Mrs. Olga Golodetz, who had the registration number OLG493 transferred from her earlier Mark VI. This R-type was specially ordered in Parsons Buckingham Blue, which is the car shown. It has been owned by a friend of mine for yrars, and I have often driven the car myself. |
