The grille with the ribbed chrome insert plates at each side of the directional lights , extending to the sides of the front fenders, is that of a Packard Clipper Super of 1954 ( 54 th series model 5411).These inserts were only mounted on the higher priced 1954 Clippers and were absent on the other 1954 and on the 1953 cars .There were only 2 body styles in this series a 4 door touring sedan and a Panama sport Coupe but not visible here which one it is. |

Those metal plates are a good way to spot a '54 but they were available on the Clipper Deluxe as well as the Super. (The Clipper Special did not have the plates and looked the same from the front as the '53's except for the new, narrower hood ornament.) -- Last edit: 2010-09-08 15:49:15 |
