OK - Let' see: - It is a Citroën Traction Avant, no doubt - It is a four-cylinder according to the nose/ grille - the 15CV (six cylinder) had a elongated bonnet and a more rounded grille. - It was French-built looking at the location, painted grille surround and the front bumper, therefore either 7CV or 11CV. - It is postwar - the prewar 4-cyl cars had grilles on the sides of the bonnet, postwar cars flaps, therefore 11CV (7CV not built post WW2) - It has the big body, therefore a Berline Normale - That makes it a 11BN - Year of build? Cars as from 1947 had the pressed steel wheels with the small hubcap instead of Michelin Pilote wheels. This is still an old grille - the new ones came in during 1949. Build-year therefore 1947/8. Notes: Colour is a mystery - post-war all 11's where available only in black, a shade of grey becoming available in 1953 (after the movie was made). 15 Sixes were available in grey, though. The elongated boot must be one of a number of aftermarket fitments available; it doesn't look like those that came as standard only in 1953 |

Sorry Citsa, but there's something wrong in your declination... Postwar Familiales (or similar long Tractions with three side windows on each side) weren't reintroduced before 1954 (and the movie dates from 1950). This is a prewar version ('doors' in the sides of the bonnet) with 'normal' rear doors (so not the symmetrical doors) and 'Pilote'-wheels (made by Michelin), so it's a 1938 or 1939 Citroën 11 B Familiale (or Limousine) with, indeed, an aftermarket luggage boot. |

Thanks, DynaMike - I stand corrected and graciously accept your explanation, won't make the same mistakes again! Must say that the grille, and the protruding crank handle fitting, did bother me a bit... |
