2000. The the W140 was made until 1999 in the US and until 1997/1998 in EU. So this this is a 1997-1998 model. |

This is a post 2nd facelift '97-'98 MY W140 (as it is non US-model no '99). Note the taillights (clear turning signal covers) and the rims. For '99 MY, the new W220 was introduced in late 1998. The license plate is from 2000, so it's probably a 1999 model that was registered a bit later (it happens). |
