From the grill, sides of the bonnet and rear window, Austin 10hp or 12hp (1939) I believe, probably 12hp. |

The actual car could be either an Austin 12 or Austin 16. The 12 had a sidevalve engine and the 16 an overhead valve, but from the outside the only difference was the badge on the grille. However, the 12 was made in 1939, and the 16 in 1946, and since this movie is set in the war years, this must be a 12. |

Usually in movies set in the war (or just before) they make the mistake of using cars made just after the war but that look similar enough for most of the viewers. |

Hello the car is an Austin 12 HS1 1946 now belongs to me, was an ex Peter Gaines car used on many films in different colours, RAF blue, Army green etc, and they always used different number plates deliberately -- Last edit: 2015-11-18 18:57:22 |
