Genuine convertible or something custom-made?

Self-cobbled sh*tbox, I think one of our members would say. Seems based on a 1975+ 1200, by what is visible?

1200 chassis, so not a US version (swing axle) Indicators in bumpers so at least 1975 (easily replaced, though) Rather a Mexican made (note the black plastic on the dashboard), 1993+ (single pipe and boot/decklid/engine cover vents 1991, Golf style steering wheel 1992, it would later be changed several times, chrome on front/luggage lid deleted 1993)

1993+ VW 1200, made in Mexico, it seems

Correction: Local name in Mexico would be Sedan 1600i

That doesn't have to be the local name used in Asia, though. Btw, import to Europe was over by then, so local brochures up here are rather hard to find, for comparing names.

Indeed, tore-40. It is the Mexican made due to the position of the single port exhaust pipe with enlarged engine.
