I was gonna say it's a '69 Plymouth Fury, but I remember now that Chrysler of Australia rebadged Plymouth's as Dodge's down there:)

Yes Australia had Plymouth Fury's rebadged and called Dodge Phoenix's until 1971, after which they were replaced with the car so good they nameed it twice - the "Chrysler by Chrysler" based on an extended Valiant platform

You've got to show us a photo of the 1972 version.

The Dodge Phoenix looks a lot like the Dodge Polara.
The 72 Dodge Polara's front end stuck out about an inch longer than the Dodge Phoenix.

There was no 1972 model. The 1971 model was the last one, but were assembled in Adelaide from knock-down crates, imported from Canada, until about mid 1972 (month unknown). There were 400 saloons with the 318 v8 and 400 hardtops with the 383. These were truly lovely cars but, sadly, many have been given terrible 'street rod' paint jobs, lowered, now have huge mags...etc. They look awful. Ones in original condition are rare, and getting rarer.

From late 1967 the Phoenix was assembled in Melbourne, not Adelaide, despite what it says on the plate! They ran out of space at Tonsley Park Adelaide and used the former Rootes Group plant at Port Melbourne (taken over by Chrysler the yeat before) to assemble them from CKD form alongside Hillmans.

From 1969 they did not make 400 of either the sedan or hardtop. The Limited Edition was even more limited than what CAL wanted!

in the USA the Mopar C bodies (Fury, Polara) had the A38 police option - another Plodge product (this was done in Canada and Mexico where the Dodge nameplate was used)...
