TR6P These are very very early ' Oil in Frame ' Models introduced for the 71 season (Triumphs 'season' was in this instance Sept 70 to Aug 71 ). Only 154 TR6P's made for 1971 according to wiki. I wonder if they were bought new for the event ? The new for 71 'Oil in Frame' 650 range had an all new frame and cycle parts but only slightly modified engines. Massive investment resulted in NO 5 speed box , NO electric start , NO disc brakes. In fact they had designed a completely new Drum brake ( The Conical Hub, quickly renamed by bikers as the Comical Hub !) that was inferior to the previous models. Que end of British bike industry by 75. -- Last edit: 2017-03-14 13:21:57 |
