This reminds me of a humorous story I read in a magazine: In 1986, the GDR wanted to show how far they were ahead by presenting a "modern" firetruck based on a W50, built for the West. But Western critics just laughed: the outdated engine brought out only about 75 HP, the basket for the "swivel-ladder" only had space for one person (while in the West for a long time more than one person could already stand in there) and the ladder itself only extended to about three feet long.  So this "modern" firetruck wasn't put in production and they stayed with their existing IFAs and their Skoda-Liazes... -- Last edit: 2017-02-19 19:24:53 |
