aka SL. |

Not SLC due to the hardtop? (even if it looks a crummy aftermarket) |

Not SLC. Probably a factory hardtop - maybe the reflection makes it look odd. SLC had longer wheel base and vertical vents in the longer rear side windows |

It's an SL, with a detachable hardtop - friend of mine has one. Just not sure whether this one is a 350 or a 450... |

agree could also be a 280 ? -- Last edit: 2017-02-20 03:53:56 |

It's an early one, with the front antenna (before 1975) |

OK: just did a quick search, and found a June 1975 classified ad for the car, being sold second-hand - 450SL! Kicking myself that I didn't think of that earlier - will give it a try next time I'm not sure on a model, may work again... -- Last edit: 2017-02-20 06:05:53 |

As DSL said, the coupes are longer, but the quick way to tell is only the convertible hardtop has the chrome roof rails. |

chrome at the base of the roof is also a clue Link to "www.motorlegend.com" vs Link to "smclassiccars.com" -- Last edit: 2017-02-20 06:43:46 |
