Listed as a 1963 289 version: http://www.heritageclassics.com/inventory/detail/1336-a-c-cobra-289.html We have some listed as AC and some as Shelby. Is there a right way for this one? -- Last edit: 2017-02-12 02:01:28 |

A minefield, with lengthy previous discussions. I think the gist is those fully built in UK are AC, those sent over to US part-built to get engines on arrival are Shelby. Picture in showroom link shows what looks like OSX2023 stamp, which probably means CSX2023, the 23rd Cobra built. "1963 Shelby Cobra CSX 2023 - the 23rd production example. It was billed to Shelby American on October 1, 1962 and sold to Downtown Ford in Los Angeles on November 28, 1962. Its early ownership data is unknown, but from 1971 until 2011, it was owned by Ruben Garnica. The Cobra was restored in the early 1980s. At some point early in its life, the motor in CSX2023 was upgraded to a 289-cid V-8. The engine is mated to a four-speed manual transmission." - Link to "www.clubcobra.com" Was red, but when sold in 2014 for $825,000 had become silver - Link to "www.mustangandfords.com" . I suppose it should be listed as a 260 with "upgraded to 289" in added info?? |
