1962 Fiat 1600 S Cabriolet (O.S.C.A.) [118SB], also known as 1962 Fiat 1600 Osca - we might need to tidy a couple of entries?? Facelift for 1963 removed the scoop.

What determines whether it's an OSCA or not??

Have tidied these 1600 S Cabriolets up a fair bit, although left the mixture of OSCA descriptions as they are until the question is resolved. According to Glass's, these were sold in UK as special order LHD only, so it quotes Italian info/dates as follows:
1] this front - shield grille/asymetric bonnet vent/2 headlights - was Oct 62 to April 63 only and coded [118SA] - a new code for us as all our entries were listed as [118SB]. (UK listing from Feb 63, so 118SA only available for 2 months here)
2] new front - wide grille/no bonnet vent/4 headlights with second pair in grille/FIAT shield badge in grille - from April 63 was [118SB]
3] April 65 - round FIAT medallion in grille (plus various internal changes such as 5-speed gearbox, steering column redesign etc) - still [118SB]

UK imports stopped Nov 65, all production ended Sept 66.

As far I know the true OSCA was the 1958 1500 coupé prototype and the handful of these built in that year.
I am sure this car was just marketed as a Fiat 1600 S Cabriolet. OSCA prepared them but was never mentioned again.

I think OSCA is a reference to the engine, which in 1500 S [118S] and then 1600 S was not a Fiat design but originally a Maserati design which the Alfieri brothers took with them when they left and started OSCA

"Enlarged in stages up to 1,491cc and given a twin-cam cylinder head, the OSCA engine was later taken up by FIAT, for whom it was 'productionised' by ex-Ferrari designer, Aurelio Lampredi. At the same time as its twin-cam engine was powering FIAT's range-topping sports cars, OSCA began producing its own GT cars, reversing the policy that had prompted the brothers to leave Maserati. In 1962 the engine was enlarged to 1,568cc for the otherwise virtually identical 1600S model." - https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21284/lot/44/ (although noted that car is a 1962 [118SA], not 1965 as described).

As various imcdbists who have gone before us liked to insert (O.S.C.A.) on the 1500 S and the 1600 S, (but not the 1200 or later 1500-without-S), I think we should continue their wishes.
