It's a 1968 model ( front doors with quarterlights, small bootlid handle ) sporting the rear lights from a 1974 model year car.

DIEHARD, since you say that, I would't be surprised that this was a Portuguese car with a Dutch numberplate and NL badge. In fact, it has a number of details that help me think it's possible: looking closely at the left thumbnail there's a 220D script - by far the majority of /8 here were 220D; the rubber faced rear bumper overiders were standard here ( and not very common in other countries ); the mudflaps ( in 1981 all the cars here should have them ); the black Vitaloni Tornado door mirror, the metallic paint and the 1974 rear lights were common as updating efforts among 220D owners of that time.

Thw whole seen is somewhat ackward. The character has gone to Portugal. In Holland he drives a green W123 230E, it looks as if they make believe he drove to Portugal. But then again, after some scenes there, he leaves by plane, leaving the car at the airport :??: Somewhat remarkable I think.

But you are probally right, they probally would not want the hassle of transsporting the original car from Holland to Portugal and they just took a Portuguese one and modified it a little. They probally could only rent a W115 and settled for that....
