This scene was a reenactment of the murder of Christopher "Biggie Smalls" Wallace who shot as he was sitting in the passenger seat of his Chevrolet Suburban while stop at a red light at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and South Fairfax Avenue in the early hours of the 9th March 1997. According to the LAPD investigation into the murder, Wallace had attended the Soul Train Awards held on the 7th March 1997 at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall where he presented an award to Toni Braxton for Best R&B/Soul Single for Female Artist for her single "You're Makin' Me High" / "Let It Flow". After the awards, Wallace and his entourage were meant to head to the UK, but had instead, attended the award's after-party hosted by Vibe Magazine at the Petersen Automotive Museum on the evening of the 8th March. At about 12:30am on the 9th March, the party was shut down by the Los Angeles Fire Department due to overcrowding and safety violations, and Wallace and his entourage left in a three-car convoy, consisting of two Chevrolet Suburbans and Chevrolet Blazer with Sean "Puff Diddy" Combs, Eugene "Gene" Deal, Anthony "Tone" Jacobs, Stevie J and driver Kenny Story in the first Suburban and Wallace, Damion "D-Roc" Butler, Junior M.A.F.I.A. member James "Lil' Cease" Lloyd and driver Gregory "G-Money" Young in the second Suburban. The occupants of the trailing Blazer consisted of Bad Boy Records' Director of Security, Paul Offord and off-duty Inglewood Police Department officer Reggie Blaylock acting as the driver. As the first Suburban drove through the intersection, the light changed to red, forcing the second Suburban with Wallace onboard to stop at the intersection. Minutes later, a dark green Chevrolet Impala SS sedan pulled alongside Wallace's vehicle and the driver armed with a 9mm pistol, fired four shots into the Suburban, fatally wounding Wallace. After shooting Wallace, the Impala sped off, turning onto Wiltshire Avenue with the security's Blazer chasing after the vehicle, but lost sight of the vehicle. Wallace was taken to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he died of his wounds at 1:15am. According to the Medical Examiner's report, while the first three bullets were considered non-fatal, the fourth was fatal, entering his hip and hitting his colon, liver, heart, the upper lobe of his left lung and ending up in his left shoulder. -- Last edit: 2024-04-20 07:46:10 |
