These were briefly sold as Cadillacs (Catera model) in the States (maybe Canada?) with the 3-liter V6. Didn't sell very well...too bad, they were handsome cars.

My dad has one of these (the 2.5 V6 Tourer estate), they were certainly better looking than the Ford Scorpio, though it's easy to see why they weren't successful as Cadillacs, they must have been just too small and plain.

As I recall they were quite luxurious. But they were the next attempt to sell a small cadillac after the dreadful Cimmeron. I think folks just didn't want to know anything about it. The CTS sells quite well and I think it's not nearly as handsome as the Catera.

The thing is if you compare the Catera to the Seville and the DeVille, it just doesn't have as much presence or glamour. It just didn't seem to be a real Cadillac, it was just a rebadged Opel/Holden, when you think of a Caddy, you picture a huge, slab sided, opulent land yacht, like the DeVille, I doubt most American consumers saw the Catera as a geniune Cadillac.

Oddly enough, there's a Catera a few minutes' walk from my home. Even more oddly, it's registered in Germany.
