Considering that it must have been 7 or 8 years old at the time, it's in remarkable condition. They had usually rotted away by that age.

@JCB: a propos "looked after": during the last 11 days on GB-roads (I'm on the Outer Hebrides now) I saw exactly TWO original UK-trucks, a Foden tipper and a Dennis garbage truck. That's all.
 was there a Foden 4x4? If yes, there may one as a show object in front of a garage along the A82 (Crianlarich? Tyndrum?)

2 years late , yes there was a Foden 4x4 but just a prototype or two for the army . I have vague memories of seeing a photo of one in civilian life as twin boom wrecker.

^ Was briefly up in Helmsdale (Sutherland) a couple of weeks ago, and 2 semi-derelict Fodens parked up - one possibly ex-military was local recovery wrecker for lorries/coaches getting stuck on the A9 (accidents/snow etc), the other an ex-Lothian (as signwritten) snow plough - no chance of photos or to note the plates, but they were both butch heavy-duty square cabs (1990s??). Also saw several Swiss-plate Reliant Scimitar GT and GTE heading south on the A9 from Helmsdale - maybe a Swiss Reliant club tour of the NC500??

Military bought lots of 6x6 Fodens and the Ministry of Transport had a lot of 6x4 Gritters.
Kept Foden going in 70s and 80s.
Many later passed down into civvy use.
