Looks like a dealer info sheet commonly seen in unsold cars on the lot. If not - who knows :D

Since i dont know where to post it because not everybody goes tot he forum ill post it here, in the following site it is explained that both Beta models were built and sold by Seat, at least in Spain, i'd like Blackwalls and Dynamike (just because they seem to understand a lot about spanish cars) to see it and read it.

http://www.museoseat.com/seat/seat-e.htm

If it doesnt link you to the article i want you to read just on the left go to Años 1970-79 and then click Lancia it expalins it there, just tell what you think, if its true or not

Very interesting site/info: during 1979-1981 1398 Coupés and 1349 HPEs of the Lancia Beta should have been assembled by Seat in their factory in Landaben, Pamplona. I've never heard about this, but the site looks quite serious and well informed. Also Lancia was already part of the Fiat imperium. Do we have some of these Lancias in Spanish movies on the site?

hmm i dont think so, at least that i know, so does it refers to spanish Betas or to Europeans ones?

Since the engine capacity was lowered to under 1920 cc to avoid the 35% luxury-tax in Spain, you can be sure they were only assembled to be sold in Spain. Other countries didn't have this 1920 cc standard, so outside Spain the original 1995 cc was used.

Well, in 1977-78, Seat was passing a heavy crisis: Industrial crisis, sales crisis... and new competence every day. So they decided to launch a new knd of car that could be fitted into the place left for the Seat 124 sport in 1975.

So, Seat signed an agreement with Lancia (part of Fiat) to build the Lancia Beta Coupe, and Beta HPE in the former Authi Factory in Landaben, where the Seat 124 was being produced since 1976.

So, that's the way those over 2800 Betas were built (just built, not made) in Spain. They came from italy in CKD, and were assembled here with the 1919 engine that the Seat 132 was using at the moment (later that engine was used on the very limited Seat 124D Especial 2000).

The cars were called officialy Lancia Beta and Lancia HPE, and were only available in red, blue and silver. They were well equiped, electric windows, central lockind, power steeting and factory A/C on HPE (option on Coupe)

They sold relatively well for it's price and the economic situation of the country at the moment, but after those 2800 cars, the assembling stopped, in late 1979 due the bad (even worse) situation of Seat.

The 124 and Beta left it's place at Landaben factory to the brand new Seat Panda in 1980.

I owned a Beta Coupe, 1976- 79. Dark blue with a pure white interior. It was fast, but heavier to drive than the Alfa Romeo Guila I'd owned previously- and subject to anything electrical going wrong. Happily I sold it just before the Lancia rust scandle broke and destroyed the companys reputation in Britain. I liked mine, and it didn't rust whilst I owned it.
