La calandre est la même quelque soit le modèle. La différence se situe au niveau des longueurs de chassis, du type de carrosserie et de la finition. Il faudrait une autre vue de la voiture... |

Here is the way to tell the 1946 through 1949 Cadillac limos apart. 46: One extra bar in the grille. No candy stripes between the "V" and the shield on the hood. Circular horn ring. Hood lip trim chrome convex, similar to 41-42, and is cast. 47: One less bar. Candy stripes between V and shield. Half a circle horn ring. Convave, stamped steel chrome hood lip trim. 48: Rainbow intrument cluster. 49: Overhead valve motor. Stainless steel running boards. Conventional dash. |

If I remember the movie well it is a series 75 car on the 136.5 inch wheelbase .With the 5 horizontal grille bars instead of six in 1946 , absence of small standing lights in the upper part of the grille and square instead of rectangular fog lamp lenses under the headlights it is a 1947-1949 car.Other details as discussed here are missing on the picture to determine model year. |

1948 or 1949 Cadillac Fleetwood "Series 75" sedan or limousine. Would need to see interior view or dashboard to differentiate one year from the other. |

I disagree. This is a 1947 Cadillac. The 1948 models were totally restyled, and had the first tailfins. The 1948 grille was much simpler than on this car, and the foglights were not part of the grille. |

This CAN in fact be a '48 or a '49! Although the rest of the Cadillac line had new bodies in 1948, The Series 75's carried the pre-war bodies until 1950. Being a limited production car, G.M. Sometimes kept the 75 series bodies after the main line cars were changed. The best example of this was the 1959-1965 Series 75s. They changed the lower sheet metal in '60,61,62,63 and '64 but the roofline, most of the interior, chassis and just about everything else dated from '59! (The 1965 was exactly the same as 1964, Oddly this made the 1966 a one year only style! as all Caddys were re-skinned in 1967!) P.S. The 1949 Buick Special and the Cadillac Series were the last G.M. Cars based on the Pre War bodies. |

One clarification is needed on that, James. The 1965 Fleetwood line carried the same wheel covers as the other '65 models, not the '64 style. Also it should be mentioned that your comments do not apply to commercial vehicles such as ambulances. They carried '65 style bodies. I have a very good friend whos Father owned a '49 Cad Limo that was used in the Godfather movie. I actually drove the car in 1979, to take my friend to his highschool prom. The car was in fact a '49. My understanding was that there were more than one car used in the movie. This car was one that was at the curb in several shots of the movie. My friends father was a commercial artist that did a lot of work for Disney, and others. He got the car in a trade deal. I knew of the car from the early '70's, till around the late '80's. He sold the car then. The car was in Riverside,California, and was owned by W.T. Vinson. If anyone has any old registrations for the car, that would help.
