pilou ◊ 2007-02-01 10:50	It is a Chrysler Windsor DeLuxe Convertible Coupe of 1951( C-51-2), not a 1952 New Yorker :Windsors as this one had no V hood logo but a simple Chrysler hood script.It is not a 1952 , because in 1952 the backup lamps were incorporated in the taillights and that is not the case here.Last small picture is another car.
archi87 ◊ 2007-02-01 13:28	Looking at the grille, I really believe it's a 1952 Chrysler. In 1951, there was a chromed part under the front lights, between the two horizontal lines. It seems to be painted her, like in 1952. Beside, the chrome trim on the rear wing (straight horizontal line) looks more like of a 1952 Chrysler than of a 1951 (in 1951, there was a curve part near the door).
pilou ◊ 2007-02-01 15:10	I keep to a 1951 Chrysler Windsor DeLu!xe Convertible Coupe ( C-51-2) for the following reasons : first , concerning the grille ,grilles of 1951 and 1952 Chryslers are differing between the series : Windsor , Saratoga and New Yorker , but are strictly identical in each individual series for both years. So grilles can only be a series distinction not a year distinction. Second , Windsors had a Chrysler hood script ,Saratogas and New Yorkers had a V emblem. Windsors had two bumper overriders as on this one ,Saratogas and New Yorkers had four.So it is a Windsor. Third ,concerning the chrome trim on the rear fender , the 51/52 New Yorkers had a curved part near the rear door surrounding a high curved gravel shield . 51/52 Windsors and Saratogas had a straight horizontal chrome trim with a lower straight gravel shield on the rear fender , so this is also not a distinction point between both years .The most obvious point here is the rear view of the car :in 1952 the backup lights were incorporated into the lower part of the taillight units and were an integral part of the taillights in all series .In 1951 they were mounted between the rear fenders and the trunk deck and that is clearly visible on the large picture here .Also the hubcaps ( wheel covers) of the 1951 cars had a deeper dish effect than those of the 1952 cars. Mechanically the major difference between both years was in the Windsor range with an increase of the displacement of the six cylinder engine from 250.6 to 264.5 cubic inch.
