License is import, I guess this is a 1993 Escort? |

No, this is a first generatrion model of this version. 1991+ I think. |

Unless the Ford badge has been moved to the centre, pre 1995 models had it towards the right hand side. You can also tell by the door handles, later models were rounded. |

So do you think I'm right or not? |

Unfortunately not... I've just spotted that the car has got a centre third brake light, which was only fitted from (I think) 1997 on (I had a 1995 Escort which didn't have it.) |

It became obligated for new passenger cars in The Netherlands on 1-1-1997. But it could be an aftermarket product, installed on a previous version.... I too thought this was an older Escort, but then again they did not change the rear of the Estate version much, when the newer model was introduced. Unlike the hatchback and Sedan, which you can easily tell apart... |

What about the black bumper, I can not find an Escort 1997-1999 with black bumpers... License is 1999 by the way, but I don't know if it belongs to this car. -- Last edit: 2007-01-31 09:40:42 |

AHA, I have contacted the Dutch DLVA and they say it's a 1999 Ford Escort Clipper 1.8 TD. Car is exported on March 11, 2004... |

With exception of CKD/SKD assembly plants (which made Escorts only for the local markets), since 1998 UK was the only European manufcaturer of Escort wagon. |
