Schindler's main private car used during the first half of the film. In the book Schindler's Ark he had an Adler limousine.

Should this be classed as a limousine or convertible?

Erm, whitewalls during WWII? A bona fide blooper.

It is a Phaeton I guess, I do not know what would be the best category for it.

This body style was called Pullmann-Cabriolet in Germany. I doubt this is a 853. I think it is a 951 Pullmann-Cabriolet with body by Gläser.

I seem to have lost my admin rights. Otherwise I would correct it.

:??: you never edited the cars that you identified, that's why after long time I removed your admin rights, as you were never using them. But if you wish I can give you back these rights of course ;)

Is this definetely an anachronism? If so it I'll contact IMDB, they have a goofs section for each film.

What's wrong with whitewalls and WW2 in the first place? And the car was most probably built before the war, so chances are it still rides on the original pre-war tires...

It's possible, of course, but I can't find much evidence of whitewalls being used outside the USA; only one picture of a Mercedes-Benz 540K, with no guarantee they were authentic. Before WW2 I think they appeared on Duesenbergs, Auburns and the like.

I read that rubber was scarce in WWII, so they used something else. Whitewall tyres might have been a real luxury in WWII but then Schindler was a wealthy man with lots of connections.

In reality, Oskar Schindler had a Horch, when Germany surrendered, Schindler and his wife; Emilie fled in the vehicle and travelled west towards the American Lines.

In the vehicle was a diamond that Schindler hidden under the seat.

When they arrived at České Budějovice, the vehicle was seized by the Soviet Army and the Schindlers were unable recovered the diamond.

If indeed comandeered by the Soviet, this car was likely scrapped together with the diamond.
