... and Luton and Rüsselsheim. These were all interchangeable for LHD/RHD and Opel/Vauxhall. There was no rigid supply demarcation. |

Not Rüsselsheim but Bochum for Cavalier if I remember right... Rüsselsheim was Rekord and other V-car derivatives at the time |

The German Wiki says not much, just "which Vauxhall Motors had built in the UK"... http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vauxhall_Cavalier_Mk._1 |

Sorry - Rüsselsheim was just my shorthand for Germany without checking further. |

It's not totally wrong, as the bigger Opels always were built there: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel#Mitarbeiter_und_Standorte Oh, in Eisenach they had built the Vectra for a while. Didn't know that. About the first Wiki-link: it's said ther,e that the Vauxhall Cavalier was built IN the UK. |

My experience is from the front wheel drive versions of the J and T cars (Cavalier Mk.II etc.). GM Europe's manufacturing was more integrated and the cars were just re-badged Opels (although spec and options varied there were no panel changes). Before that I believe it was more specific and Luton's Cavalier saloon production was probably slightly (if at all) added to by Belgium produced cars, (I remember reading this I think) |
