1948 Humber Hawk Mk.III |

The Mk III introduced at the Oct 1948 London Show, though few examples on the database will date from that year. But Rootes and their Mk and Series nos...pah! (I recently 'corrected' a MkVI Hawk to a MkIV before realising that their number sequence changed more or less with the ashtrays). Hillman went from a Mk I to a Mk VIII Minx (not to mention a, b and c variations) when, perhaps, Ford would have identified about four Mk changes, from wartime to 1955. Nightmare. Much easier for us trainee car nerds if they had counted the earliest 1930s Minx as a Mk I and continued consecutively until the name was phased out with the 'Arrow' model in the early 1970s. BMC, Ford and Vauxhall models all easier to identify. |
